🦆 RIP to a Waterfowl Legend 🦆

We’re sad to hear of the passing of the late, great Phil Robertson — the original Duck Commander.

I grew up watching Duckmen on worn-out VHS tapes, and I’ll never forget the first time I met Phil at Oshkosh. They had one small table under a tent, selling T-shirts and signing autographs. I still remember one that read: "Our women pick ducks." We got a good laugh out of that one.

Over the next few years, they blew up — from that humble tent to becoming a household name. It made it a lot easier to explain what we do. Back in the day, if you told someone you made duck and goose calls, they’d look at you sideways. But after Duck Dynasty aired? They’d go, “Ohhh, like Duck Commander! Where’s your beard?”

What the Robertson family did for the waterfowl industry is nothing short of incredible. Never in my life did I think I’d see duck-themed shower curtains and duck calls sold at Barnes & Noble.

So from all of us at GK Calls, hats off to Phil and the whole Duck Commander crew. Your legacy changed the game. Our prayers are with your family during this time of loss.
