Our goal for many years has always been to keep increasing realism, sound quality, and ease of use for all of our products. Our very own World Champion and Champion of Champion Wade Walling has helped us create what we think is the perfect gut system to complement our line of calls and will be called “The Hunters Edge Gut System (T.H.E).
We have worked for several years tinkering with different applications and methods to best achieve the proper sound along with a product that the average hunter will want in there call and also a champion caller.
The breakdown – Wade’s plan was to create a gut system that was more aerodynamic. The objective was to gain speed by rounding off the top our original edge gut system. This helped to get air to the reed quicker, which in turn caused the call to be more responsive and have quicker turn over when going from note to note.
The second step in building this new system was creating what we call “Ramps.” Starting at the top of the gut moving all the way to the bottom creating a ramp for the air to travel down so it has a proper flow rate. We wanted the reed to move quicker and easier and help the air direct to the reed not away.

Wade Walling – “Hey guys, I want to show you GKs new product. It’s a new gut system called the hunters edge gut. Now the hunters edge gut is going to be a set of guts that I hand modified, it was a set of OTE guts. And so the broken in channel is actually the same, but it’s the outside that makes a difference. What I actually did was made this gut a little more aerodynamic. What I wanted was when the air hits this gut, it’s got an actual straight ramp up to the read. What this does, it just makes that read vibrate a lot easier. I like a call that can have the volume, the tone throughout the entire range. And I like a gut, a set of guts, or a call that once you put air into the call that read vibrates I don’t like a lot of air wasted. And that’s exactly what the set of guts does. So I’ve got them tuned up here in a hedge solution and you can get a sneak peek of the sound. Now as soon as I’m putting air into this call, that read vibrates. If you can see my lips there’s actually air escaping and the reed is still vibrating. That’s the whole key to these guts.
